SciFi and Fantasy Art: Street Phoenix 2

I drew this phoenix on the local tennis court near my house. It took two hours and it was a real work-out! Those kendo-muscles came in handy... The phoenix is 5 meters from beak to tail and 4 meters across the wings, which is really too big... I foud out the hard way. Lost count on how many chalks I used up. Possibly my most expensive drawing ever. =/ I would have liked a better variety of colors, but I couldn't get my hands on any. I almost paniced when I realized I didn't have any black. (Nooooo!) The colors was a bit crappy, no real red, but only some replusive shade of pastell pink. *twitches* Well, what are you gonna do. I took the pictures immediately after finishing it, because I could almost hear the local kids drooling in the shadows to come out and kill it. I was right too, when I went to check on it three hours later, it was ruined.

The "street phoenix" was too big for me to photograph it properly. Either way I did it, it got out of porpotion or it didn't fit on the screen. So I took a couple of photos. In total, there are three uploaded here on Elfwood.

Out of the three shots of your phoenix, i like this one the best. The colors are the brightest. I love doing large-scale chalk art, although it can be killer on your hands. As for chalk, Alphacolor makes large art-quality chalks that come in rich colors (like red!) and black. This is really awesome, though. I guess all artists working in the public just have to accept the impermenance of their work (be it rain or crazy little kids).

:-) Emma JC Nilsson replies: "Oh wow, a more experienced senpai! *bows* I've never done serious chalk art before, I acutally got the idea when we drew with the kids in the kindergarden where I work. Thanks for the tip, I'll see if I can find Alphacolors somewhere..."
