SciFi and Fantasy Art: MyatamaThis is the luckdragon Myatama, a fragile, but hardly defenceless little creature measuring about 2 feet from head to tip of tail. I first drew this picture as a gift to a friend, and later on I used it as an roleplay character. Myatama is a proud, vain, mystery-loving little critter that has the ability to distort reality around her the way she sees fit. She can grant persons good luck if she so choses, but anyone trying to harm her, will certainly have all nature's forces against him. | | | | | Date | Name | Comment | | | 16 Aug 2005 | Chelsea Beiler aka Kitty13 | *first comment dance* this dragon sure is cute! She looks so pretty and harmless and fragile. I love your art!! *squee!* Emma JC Nilsson replies: "Thanks! "Mya" is one of my favorite characters... ^_^ However, the compression of the picture size did horrible things to the quality, with the next ticket, I will try to upload a better copy of this one." | |
| 17 Aug 2005 | Pepsi Black | Woah doggy! Its so sexy. Give it to meeeeeeeeeeeee! Emma JC Nilsson replies: "*blinks* Sexy? o.o, *is stunned and has no comment*" | |
| 21 Aug 2005 | Meg L. Getrum | Oooo I love it. Those wings are cool, and I just love the eyeball Emma JC Nilsson replies: "I used a troodon's eyes (a dinosaur) as an inspiration for Mya's eye. I wanted it to look really reptile-like, but now when I think about it, I don't know why I made it look like a nocturnal eye, since Mya isn't nocturnal... Oh well. =/ I thought it looked cool I guess." | |
| 22 Aug 2005 | Natasha M. Dudley | WOW! I want I cute little dragon! I wanna hug him and squeeze him and luv him forever and ever! Emma JC Nilsson replies: "No no, please no hugging or sqeezing! That would crush the little creature's fragile bones. Mya is very reluctant to even let people gently touch her, and only allows such treatment from those she really trusts. =)" | |
| 27 Aug 2005 | Ashley 'Ariarnith Silver Flame' Mutek | Really nice design, and I like how the wings look. They're different than feathered wings are usually drawing. The crystal ball (that's what I see it as) is really nicely drawn too. Emma JC Nilsson replies: "Thanks. ^_^ I tried to make Mya look a little different from the "common" dragons. I'm not sure what it is she's perching on, but it's definately some sort of magic crystal ball. I think I originally said it was a shpere with the ability to grant dreams. The swirls inside was done with a simple eraser. =P" | |
| 10 Sep 2005 | Mischa Goodman | Wow! The feathers on this are amazing! I love how their kind of tattered at the tips, and the way it is holding onto the orb, a very hard stance to do with dragons, there are very few who can actually pull it off. Plus I just LOVE the single feather on the tip of it's tail, what a wonderful idea! Emma JC Nilsson replies: "I drew Mya almost without any references at all, so I'm happy about the result... I drew the wings from my mind. About the positioning on the orb... =) actually, I couldn't pull that one off either. To get it right, I made a quick clay model of the legs and used it as a basis for the drawing. I'm not good with 3-D really, and I often use models when I feel insecure. I guess the tip of the tail is not supposed to be a feather really, but more like the fins you'd see on an aerodactyl..? Thanks for the comments! =^_^=" | |
| 17 Nov 2005 | Candace Elise Hoes | I want one for my garden. Emma JC Nilsson replies: "Sadly, they don't come cheep. =)" | |
| 8 Dec 2005 | Johanna Meven | Wow, it's soooooo sweet.. *steels the dragon* now, your mine, no, i won't give you back never.. *runs away with it* Emma JC Nilsson replies: "What the..? o.o *points the the copyright-symbol and clears throat*" | |
| 4 Aug 2007 | Marissa Krosigk | Love the wings... Emma JC Nilsson replies: "Wings and feathers are two of my favorite things to draw. But even so, I STILL do them backwards half of the time... >_<</font>" | |
