Unlike most of you work, I think you missed the emotional characterization on this one. To me it would seem more fitting to see the boy in greater despair and misery while holding the remains of his "sun". I think going for less-is-more on this one is innapropriate.
I'm glad to see somebody actually critiquing my work, as apposed to just accepting it as it is. Thanks for the advice.

While there sticks truth to andrew´s words, I must insist that this picture still bears a perfection which stands apart from given criticism...The resulting expression solely differs from andrew´s expectation.

I find it to be less a moment of dispair than a moment of utter fatigue. It seems more like a solemn acceptance, less because its unable to be fixed, and more because he is too spirit broken to do anything but stare passively.

I think that the less is more aspect could still be used if all of the negative space in the foreground and background were removed entirely. The subject is just floating there. It could be remedied by shadow-y borders in the open areas; possibly a few shards near the front edge, and some smoke behind him, leaving a fairly large white circle around him, creating a spotlight effect. That would add to the drama. Or, you could just remove the top and bottom thirds.

Well, those are my thoughts anyway.

Know what would make it really cool? A hell of a bigger background, like grow more on what you have already and make a messed up looking, desolate, lonely area, giving it more of a er... 'lonely' feel. lack of better word there ^_^ i do like it, too, how it is already. the pose is nice, very depressing in a way, and the... thingy he has with the blood is good. nice work 2

This is just scary. What was eating you when you made this? Nevermind, I don't want to know. This looks like something a psychopath would draw, and I've drawn some pretty weird stuff myself, so that's saying a lot.
