SciFi and Fantasy Art: Hmm... MistletoeThis is my Christmas picture, finished a little late, lol, but I have to post it! Teleya's favorite Yuletide tradition, where she gets to use her mistletoe to cast a slightly different kind of spell, and dare her lover not to kiss the heck out of her ; ) With a little help from her faerie friends of course. Teleya is my fiancee Jennifer's druidess alter ego character, based on her Irish heritage, interest in fantasy, and remarkable way with animals and her wonderful natural beauty. Prismacolor coloured pencils on 7.5' by 11' sketch paper

Gonzales replies: "Of course she's confident, with looks like that you know she'll get what she wants lol. But seriously, thank you very much."
| 4 May 2006 | Nelleke Pieters | The colouring is just great... you used pencils?! Wooow Matthew W. Gonzales replies: "I get that alot, it's all in the technique. That dress has about 5 different reds and a green just on the red parts (yes, dark green, it's in the shadows.) that added with a colourless blender can yield some nice results." | |
| 29 Jun 2006 | Callie MacDonell | I think this is your best picture. I think her face is a bit off though. Everything else is great. Matthew W. Gonzales replies: "Thx! I am rather proud of it. I'm still stuck on your hair picture, lol" | |

| 14 Dec 2006 | Brian j | Congratulations. Though there is little Mistletoe in the picture is IS drawn correctly. Not as common as you might think ... Matthew W. Gonzales replies: "There are only two sprigs of mistltoe in this picture, being held by the two faeries at the top of the image. I am well aware as was I when drawing the piece, as to exactly what mistletoe is, and that the dominating flora in this image is, in fact, Holly. However, as the holly was added only to give the picture a definite Christmas theme, and has nothing to do with the main emphasis of the image and is really more of a garnish than anything else. Thus, I named the picture after the two properly depicted sprigs of mistletoe at the top of the image in honor of the beloved kissing tradition the piece itself calls to mind, and not the holly gracing every corner of the border, every faerie's ankle, and Teleya's hair itself." | |
