SciFi and Fantasy Art: Jeza 'Sereth' ArineI have started putting my talents to use by drawing character art and concept designs for an online role playing campaign called Raathi. This is my first requested piece for this project, done in prismacolor coloured pencils. This elven woman walks with a natural grace and reflex not seen in many, always looking about her to watch those who pass by. Her skin, when showing, is the color of blood, her hair the whitest of white. When she looks at you, if her helm is off, you notice that her eyes, both pupil and iris, are the purest black to contrast the white, lending an unnerving quality to her gaze. Beneath each eye, a single line of darker red runs down each cheek, as if tears of blood had been stained onto her face. Her voice is soft and usually quiet, although at need be, loud and bold enough to shout across a crowded common room, and her entire demeanor radiates a quiet thoughtfulness about her. Although often seen in dresses of red and white, regardless of her clothing, she almost always wears a high collar about her neck, and around that a necklace with a small talisman of a golden skull. For those close enough to her to ever see the collar removed, they would notice a tatoo, written in very small, flowing black ink, running up the side of her neck. it reads, "Ceoa ela failyaneoyc." ["Life is beautiful"] On the bottoms of her wrists are almost always strapped two small blade sheathes, at her waist two more sheathes for short, curved swords, and across her back is always strapped at least one katana sheath (if not two), the sword's hilt rising over one shoulder. Often a longbow is also slung across her back.
The text is written in Tengwar, in the upper right hand corner, it says her name. On the katana it reads "revenge", and the stuff in the lower right is my signature. | |
 | | | | | Date | Name | Comment | | | 25 May 2006 | Emanuella ´Discord Goddess´ Kozas | I cant believe there are no comments on this, its such a great pose and drawing. I like how you did the wings a bit transparent and the choice of colors is easy on the eyes. Nicely done! Matthew W. Gonzales replies: "Ah, thank you, I was beginning to think it wasn't anywhere near as good as everyone kept telling me it was. I'm glad you noticed the wings!" | |
| 4 Jun 2006 | Serena | *does a double take* Come to think of it I dont think I ever noticed the sheer of the wings. Nicely done. Matthew W. Gonzales replies: "uh, uh, uh, how you dare say such a thing!! j/k Well, you've noticed it now, lol, and thank you... I really do need to draw more you know... Maybe I'll try to start before I head off to bed, lol" | |
| 4 Jun 2006 | Cat Bowen | Interesting character And I love how you've coloured and shaded this piece. Especially the way you've made the wings sort of translucent. *thumbs up* Matthew W. Gonzales replies: "Thank you very much! I was beginning to wonder when it would get some more comments, lol" | |
| 12 Aug 2006 | Alexander M. Overton | Is she fey'ri? Interesting... Awesome job on the wings. Matthew W. Gonzales replies: "Actually she is just (in the words of her own creator) "a really messed up Rim'dri [common elf]" The skin is the result of magically healed nearly fatal third degree burns, the wings were chopped off of someonelse and grafted onto her, and the eyes... well, I just thought she looked much more evil without pupils, lol." | |
| 10 Feb 2007 | Kallista Meyers | Cool deamon love the pose and colours Matthew W. Gonzales replies: "well.. she's not a demon... Might help to read the description next time, but thank you." | |
| 14 Aug 2007 | Anna Mason | O.o very pretty i like the red and her boots. oh and the translucent wings. pretty sweet. Matthew W. Gonzales replies: "Thanks, I was quite proud of those boots." | |
| 24 Aug 2007 | Zoe Antrobus a.k.a 'Alanna' or 'FantasyWillow' | Oooh, I love those boots! | |
| 16 Oct 2007 | Leif Eriksson | The transparent wings and pose looks great. Her white hair works very well together with all the bright reds. Katana’s always looks so much better with inscriptions on them, and you got that metal look on the blade done well to. | |
| 13 Nov 2007 | Kristin A. Erickson | Wow, excellent work! Your work has improved greatly! I love the smooth coloring, bold colors, and how you expressed her design so well. | |
