SciFi and Fantasy Art: Marilith

A Marilith preparing to slaughter her foes in the abyss.

Marilith are a race of Tan'ari demons from Dungeons and Dragons, and bear some of their roots in deities from hindu mythology. They appear from the waist down as a large venomous snake, and from the waist up as a comely humanoid female with six arms, each holding a different weapon.

They rank second only to the Balor in terms of sheer might, and serve as the tacticians and generals of the abyssal hordes, in as much a sense as there can be any such role amongst creatures borne of chaos, and very well in their own right.

I wouldn't want to have to fight that frightening thing! Nice work melding the snake to human, but I think the arms maybe could be a tad longer. It's a great design though, and had to be a challenge putting all the arms on the torso!

:-) Matthew W. Gonzales replies: "Yeah, talk about an anatomical funhouse, lol. My friends still think the arms look in proportion to the torso (and that it's the long snake half that's throwing things off) but I can see what you mean, they do look just ever so slightly stumpy now, lol. I'm still proud as hell though, so I'll just remember to be more careful in future. (I'm thinking of drawing an ascended one some time.) Take care! Thanks for stopping by!"

Looking good, Matthew 2Like you, I have seen many attempts at Marilith's, but they either come out like fashion models with snake arms, or something along the lines of an ant with a snake body. Good job on this, mate. One thing my mind just won't give up on atm, is: if a human torso has six arms, how would that alter the torso itself?

It looks very very scary. I would not wish to meet her. Though I do rather like the bandings on her tail.
