SciFi and Fantasy Art: Necromancer with a Spider

I'm not completely happy with the digital version of this pic, but it's been sitting around the house for so long, waiting to go up here, so I finally settled for the best digital camera shot I could get of it, with a little bit of tweaking in photoshop. Anyway, my fiancee had asked a while back if I would draw a portrait of her as a necromancer, and so this is the result. (and yes, she will get just about this friendly with spiders in real life as well, lol) There was an ambigram in the border that said Necromancer with a spider in a gothic font, but it didn't contrast enough for the camera to catch it that well. Her tatoos are in latin, the font is draconic, and they say "Necromancy, Vita et letum aeternus" Which roughly translates "Necromancy, Life and Death Eternal". the thing on her shoulder is a symbol commonly used to represent necromancy. Don't know what she's gonna do with the spider... likely use it for a spell component... eat it... something like that, lol.

I think it's a wonderful picture. I love her outfit and her sword the best. You also did a wonderful job on the detail of the tattoos. Keep it up!

I'm most impressed w/ the spider, to be honest! Arachnids are not exactly the easiest creatures to draw, even if they are symetrically-inclined.

1 Matthew W. Gonzales replies: "Thanks, he's my own fantasy species, the death's head spider... kinda like an orb spider as large as a small tarantula, with venom like a black widow. (design is similar to that of the real life death's head moth!!)"

Beautiful picture. The outfit she's in is just gorgeous, and the sword is very cool. Nice composition, great picture.

:-) Matthew W. Gonzales replies: "Thanks... I still like it a lot better in real life... When I win the lottery Im gonna buy a scanner big enough for its own room."

WOW! She is gorgeous! I like the contrasting colours, her outfit and small details.

:-) Matthew W. Gonzales replies: "Unfortunately most of the small details I love about it got lost in this image, lol"
