SciFi and Fantasy Art: Earth

This is one of the first pics I made using Photoshop ENTIRELY. And I think I used only a mouse, too. This pic is old, old, old. One in a series of four 'elemental' pictures (Earth, Fire, Wind, Water). More of a doodle and an experiment than anything else, so be nice :)

Oh wow. i kinda like the picture. i could actually mistake it for a painting. i can just see some rain tapping down on the leaves too. keep up the good work

Hmmm... you have Earth and Fire, where are the others?

I like this picture; it does have an aura of being 'cute' while not being blatant about it. I do agree that if the leaf above the personage were to just slightly overlap his hair, it would look more three-dimensional, but really it's fine as-is.

The lady-bug looks really flat for some reason, though...

:-) Roxanne Hancock replies: ""Water" really wouldn't fit in here. It's not technically fantasy. I have to copy "Wind" from my website; I think I lost the original Photoshop document for that......but "Wind" can be accepted here, so I'll include that in my next update. But all four "Elements" pics are in the archive section of my website. 2"

Very good. It looks more like a dry brush painting then a digital peice 2

I agree with the above comment that said it looks more like a brush painting. ^-^; Your completely psped pieces remind me of murals, like they're bits of a very long and intricate mural somewhere. No idea why.

I love the way he's just looking at the ladybug. He looks relaxed and happy. Yay!

Love the narrative and the use of negative space. He looks small but wise.

Oh man, you're brave enough to show a mouse-drawn picture. And it's actually good! (Mine have all been destroyed, hah). I really, really like the leaves, they look sort of abstract and could almost stand on their own.

He's adorable. I love the colors you've used, with the stark, dramatic shading around the leaves...it provides a good focus for the little guy. That lady bug is a wonderful addition.

:-) Roxanne Hancock replies: "Thanks Norma!! The ladybug was the most favored part of the picture back at college 2"

I like the ladybug too, he's yum! The colours in this are gorgeous 12 I personally think that a few dewdrops of whitish bits of light on the leaves would look great!

You are a much braver soul than I, to do a piece entirely in Photoshop! I think I lack the patience to do it, especially since I lack a tablet. 0_o'' As for the picture itself: that is one curious looking little dude there! His observation of the ladybug reminds me of a couple of little kids I know. He seems quite interested in it, for sure! And I love how the image comes out of the blackness- I've always loved the contrast of color against black. Wonderful image!
