SciFi and Fantasy Art: Meriette

This mermaid probably looks familiar because she's the mermaid from my pic, 'Desert Mermaid'. I've decided to name her Meriette. (No relation to the Elfwood artist, Mariette! LOL) This is Meriette in a more...ehem, natural environment :)

NO, she is NOT a monster in disguise! See? ;)

Oh she does look so much happier here! 2 My favourite part of this is her tail, you know what? Okay, you might not want to know this at all, and I feel its unnecessary for this pic, but I've been thinking of doing an underwater pic for a long time, and this is what I'm planning on doing to the underbelly of whatever it is in the pic: It'll be a similar colouring to that, except I think I'll get another layer or two to put a few almost lightning-like streaks onto the bright part of the belly, and fade these into it. Do you know what I mean? Have you seen whales and dolphins and things in tanks or in pictures, you know how they have all these swirly rays of light over them? Well I think that might look nice here - not that you have to put anything like that there.

I'm sorry if I'm not doing this constructive criticism thing very well 12 I usually offer what I think might be helpful pointers on peoples technique and things if I can, but your work really seems to give me a creative vibe, for some reason 2

:-) Roxanne Hancock replies: "I think I know what you mean...you're describing the light that's "shining" on the fish through the refracted water I think? That's a good idea....it would really enhance the "watery" effect.....if you don't mind I'd like to that on a pic of Meriette sometime, if I think of it that is -_-; Thanks!!!"

Hey! This picture is so simplistic! I like it! Her expression and the colors you used fit together very well! Nicely done! Keep it up! Toodles!
