SciFi and Fantasy Art: My Turn ('00)

This is a concept drawing for my next Cyberpunk character, tenatively named Sphinx. I have a habit of giving my Cyberpunk characters feline related names - if anyone has a better suggestion let me know. Sphinx is (will be) a corporate assassin. Her sword was modeled after Ivy's sword in Soul Calibur. Just looked like too much fun. :-)

mechanical pencil, graduated pencil, black ink - 11x14 drawing paper, 4-00

She is very sexy, I like the smirk on her face. What is really remarkable about the pic, what really caught my eye, was the foreshortening on her right leg. Its nearly perfect. Just how in the hell did you do that without a model?? (needless to say, foreshortening is something I find difficult). Great drawing overall, I like the style. It evokes a sort of "I'll kill those corporate sh*ts," at least for me 2

:-) Jennie Seay replies: "Oh, it's far from perfect. I did have some help in that I took a few digital photos of myself in a similar pose, but it obviously didn't solve all my problems. "

The character is great--you did a really good job with the shading. The sword is very stylish. I think, though, that my favorite part about the picture is the window and the cracks in it. It's not necessarily a major part of the picture and it certainly wasn't the first thing I noticed about it, but it adds something to it nonetheless. Most people would have stopped after drawing just the window with the buildings outside, but you went those extra few steps and put in the cracks which is really cool 2

As for a name she looks Japaness-American. How about something like Styx Yu

kinda puts me in mind of Mord-Sith from the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. If you're unfamiliar with it, I highly recomend checking the series out.
