SciFi and Fantasy Art: Galaxy cruiser model

This is a photograph which I took of one of my homemade models, and which is so far the largest, though it only took me a couple of days to make. It's is a model of an Avaran galaxy cruiser called Aquillius, which features in my story, and which I've used to create a couple of other pictures in my gallery.

The model measures about 56 cm in length and has a wingspan of about 54 cm. It is made out of cereal box card,  and corrigated card covered in tinfoil for a shiny chrome effect. But best of all it glows in the dark. If you look closely at the model, you can see that it is covered in patterned lines; that's where the phosphorescent paint is placed. Sorry that I can't show it because my camera wouldn't pick it up, unless anybody out there knows how, I'd be happy to know!

The foil adds a nice look to it as well as the random lines that would be filled in with light.

To take a good still shot with the glow, you should get a tripod, a small one will do. Or set the camera somewhere even on a small bean bag. You also need a slow shutter speed and wider apature if your camera has it. For example my camera has a setting for "camera" which uses a flash. And another setting indicated by a graphic of a mountain. This turns the flash off, and uses available light. SO make sure the flash is off. Next take several shots to get the best one, you can always delete the one you don't want.

To make that out of a cerealbox and tinfoil, and make it look good to. Thats talent...
