SciFi and Fantasy Art: Aquillius and Cyaneus

A pair of Avaran galaxy cruisers; their names are derived from the latin names of two types of bird of prey, and feature in the story i'm writing. Theyr'e quite large vessels too, about 2 kilometres in length. The Avari are quite an old race, having had advanced space flight for several thousand years, as they have advanced so did their technology; they've gone beyond the use of mechanical technology (wires and circuits etc) but use semi-organic technology instead; the ships are not living, but are able to perform certain things a living organism can do, like generate its own energy and repair itself by the use of nanocells, which almost the entire structure of the ship is made up from, and partly the reason why these ships have no windows and are therefore seamless-to maximize the ship's surface area to absorb energy from sources in space. eg  Light and radiation from stars etc.

Media used:The background was created using ulead photo express, however the ships were a couple of photographs which I took of one of my homemade models.

I really like the planet in the background. Knowing the size of these ships, I always like the sense of power I get looking at these. Like my ships I think of a deep thrumming sound somewhere on the bridge when the ship is underway.
