SciFi and Fantasy Art: Sentinel

They were painted a matte, dead black, nearly invisible against the velvet pit of space, only the trapped blue glow of ambient light in the dust and gas veils of the distant Nyo Nebula backlit them and made them visible at all.

One of the six superbly equipped orbital fortresses that between them covered every square kilometre of this sector of the galaxy in a ring of destructive power. The type of power reserved elsewhere for protecting prime military centres.

The Nyo sector was strictly an off limits zone to everyone, a deadly no man’s land that surrounded the Nyo Nebula itself. Dead space.

The creation of the spacestations came about shortly after the encounter with a Corvidian Shadow Destroyer, and learned that it was only the vangard of a vast and powerful  alien fleet. As a result, the fortress'  were built as a collaboration between the Avaran and Draconi goverments as a first line of defense against the Corvidian threat.

With the background and model, this is your best space scene yet. I like how the darkness sort of makes the ship harder to see, making it more stealthy. The tranlucency of the collectors just makes it that muhc more amazing.
