| 25 Feb 2007 | Samuel E Martens | I too, am working on an illustrated novel. I also collect illustrated novels. As long as you’re not expecting a lot of money for each copy, I’d be happy to buy a copy once you get it published. The reason why I question the price is because the only other person I've seen on elfwood who’s selling an illustrated novel is charging hundreds of dollars for each copy. I guess she thinks she’s Leonardo Da Vinci or something. They tore her to sheds in the Amazon.com reviews. If you expect to be competitive and sell many copies, you need to keep it to less than 20 dollars, preferably under 10. Oh, by the way, I love your work. Manuela P. Forst replies: "Thanks! Well, the only illsutrated novel I've finished and published jet is in German language, so I'm not sure if you can read it. It's called "Der Adel von Ametar - eine Elfenromanze" ISBN 1-933-14052-6 and contains 10 black and white illustrations and I've also done the cover. The price is fixed by the publisher and it's around 8 euros - I didn't have any influence on the pricing - it was published just a view days ago so it will be available in the next weeks at Amazon and other online sellers. I don't think that it will be translated into English in near future, but who knows.I guess there will always be artists charging much too much for their work but the question is: will they sell anything? As long as they don't have a famous name I don't think they will. So they want to get hundrets of dollars but in the end they will not get one single cent.I wish you all the luck for your own novel!" | |
