SciFi and Fantasy Art: November in the woods

This picture I've done with Photoshop. It shows a scenery out of the poem 'When a fairy's heart breaks' I have written after going for a walk on a dark and cold winter night.

That's lovely and atmospheric. But it feels sad and lonely to me.

I love this picture and you have done a great job!!! The colours make the picture look mysterious and it is very relaxing. The fact she is alone in a forest gives a lonely feeling. I might be exaggerating but i think u could apply this picture to someone's feelings - the girl who is alone is the loneliness we all sometimes feel and the road into the forest is the road of life (we don't know what is going to happen next)

:-) Manuela P. Forst replies: "Thank you for your very philosophical comment! I am a bit surprised how strong some people can feel the loneliness the picture submittes. It was my goal but I did not expect to achieve it in that way."

Please write the poem somewhere i can read it, because i love the picture=)

:-) Manuela P. Forst replies: "Well, sorry! This wont work till the end of June as I want the poem to take part in a contest and it have to be unpublished till then. I will tell it in the description of the picture as soon as I have posted it at my homepage or in Elfwood."

First I want to say: thank you for commenting on "winky".
I think this is the most beautiful drawing or yours I see here. Love the colors, I first thought when I was on your main page, that it was an underwater drawing.
I totally love the way you made the light go, I could never manage to do that.
So keep up the good work! ps: very lovely dress though the dress itself seems to pour out sadness not to mention that poor girl..

I don`t actually no anything about art, but what I can see is that this picture is beutifull! The sad mood, you can see that her heart is broken.

Great work!

Very nice here. Nice change to see a fairy who isn't all happy and hyper. Though I do hope she cheers up.

:-) Manuela P. Forst replies: "Thanks for your comment! Well, I was so sad to see all those dark trees without leaves in November, so I thought that a fairy might feel the same."

Interestingly enough, I think the broad expanse of sky above is what really makes this picture so affecting. She's below in the forest, feeling isolated and alone, while above her there is open sky, and birds (ravens?). She can easily be reminded of things she's missing out on. Quite sad indeed. And of course, the picture is very "blue"...that and the green are very effective for loneliness and sadness. And the bright spot in the sky is actually really key too, I think. It makes it more lonely than if the whole air was dark. Not completely sure why, but it does. Anyway, it's a beautiful, melancholy picture. As you can see, I've added it to my favorites. (and I found it on the "Backwoods" tour)

:-) Manuela P. Forst replies: "Thanks for your detailed comment! Yes, the birds should be ravens, although they are a bit too lumpy - more like black doves ;-)"
