SciFi and Fantasy Art: Canyon of the dark River

This picture is a study of all the things that I feel are quite hard to draw: lightbeams, a waterfall and waves. Well, I'm satisfied with the result.
done with watercolours

Brilliantly drawn, but I'm a bit confused about what's going on here. It looks like the snake is attacking the guy in the water, but at the same time the red-headed woman is stroking its head, and the guy in the green shirt is looking on quite unconcernedly. Strange.

:-) Manuela P. Forst replies: "The red haired woman does not wish to tough the snake, she wants to help her friend. Even she would not reach him just by stretching her hand. I know that the drawing is quite hard to understand if you don't know the story behind it and I also know that I didn't do as good on the peoples expressions as I did on the waves. Maybe one day I should be able to combinate all those things to one good picture. But till then I will keep practising to get better. Thanks for the comment!"

For the comment regarding the bow, that style does in fact exist, it's a recurve I believe. Great piece, hope to see more.

The natural elements of this are really pretty. They have a very mythical look to them. I wish I could be in a place like this. It seems almost magical.

18 Manuela P. Forst replies: "Magic in the rocks, magic in the water - magic in nature! I believe there's no other way you can feel magic like this. Just go out and feel nature. So, I'll better stop this esoteric thing now ;-)"

The guy in the light green shirt seems a little funny, I think his legs are too short, but other than that it`s really great!

1 Manuela P. Forst replies: "Yes, that's just because it should be a halfling (Hobbit)."

I love the giant snake! That's so cool. The waves are also great. Congrats on Mod's Choice!

OMG! this is watercolor? Doesn't look like that at all! Can't remember what the other medium I thought it was... Oh well. Anyway, I'll say you did a fantastic job with the layout.

the water truly looks very good...i´m having difficulties with that myself so...i´m impressed. The snake look also pretty amazing, love those green tones of its skin.

It has such a deep story. I love the scales, and how it looks like one of them is trying to pet the snake.
