SciFi and Fantasy Art: Retribution

This was my first experience with charcoal. Don't ask me - my hands and my lower arm where nearly black when I've finished. I don't think that this will get my preferred medium.
The whole day I was painting lovely things in bright, light colours. But then I felt like I had to do something extremely different. Now, this is the result. As I started drawing, I wanted the elf to be still alive but during my work he has died somehow.

The perspective is great, and very difficult to draw I think...You did a very good job. I really like this picture, though it's so sad.....

21 Manuela P. Forst replies: "Yes, the perspective was quite hard to do... but also great fun as I tryed it all out in front of the mirror (of course without a dagger), looking at how shadows would fall, running back to my desk, drawing, running back to the mirror - if you don't have a model or a matching photo this could become some kind of new running-sport!"

charcoal is my most favorite medium, mostly for the fact that it is so maliable, yes you do get messy but it is worth it. awsome pic, and that same thing happens to me, one min I will be heading towards one direction with my pic but subcontously, based on how I am feeling, I will head a totaly seperate direction. all my pics are like that.

I love the expression on the elfs face!! You captured the look of death perfectly.I like the look of the ogre as well he has a very sneaky look about him.For being done in charcoal this picture has a very clean look to it.It may be difficult to work with but you certainly did a good job with it.Nice work on the tour as well.

i don't know if you have read any of R.A Salvatore's stories but this drawing reminds me of Drizzt.

23 Manuela P. Forst replies: "Well, yes, I've read Salvatore and I love all the older books about Drizzt. But while drawing this I didn't think about dark elves at all. This should only be a fair elf. Maybe his skin tone is a bit darker, yes, I think it's just Summer and he was too long in the sun ;-)"

I think this is a pretty interesting picture. I like the idea and the perspective. The dead man’s expression is pretty good. Such a dark picture. Very good job
