SciFi and Fantasy Art: Laneir and Nightingale

Another one from the 2004 sketchbook. The background (stage?) is Photoshop (but of course...), as well as the strings, and most of the shading.

The story behind this picture is a sad one - it wasn't really going to be a happy one though - mayhaps I shall write it?

I love it. The shadings is intense and both the theme and mood are very suggestive. It's something to make you think and it's unlike anything I've ever seen hear before.

:-) Emily Coghill replies: "^_^ Thank you very much! This has got to be my favourite picture out of the ones I have up here at the moment. There is a dark and shadowed story here indeed... "

I love the surreal, dreamlike feel of this piece. It has so much raw emotion behind it! I would say that your proportions seem a little off, but that was intentional, right? To add to the dreamlike quality of the scene? In either case, this is wonderful work--keep it up!

:-) Emily Coghill replies: "Thank you very much! I'm glad that the impression came across as dreamlike to you, as that was how I originally imagined this piece - a stage within a dream. And, with the proportions, you're exactly right, completely intentional...sort of ^_~ My sense of proportion can be less than realistic sometimes!"

This really caught my eye! I love the shadows and the background!

:-) Emily Coghill replies: "Thank you! I might develop the ideas here at some point in the future... ^_^"

i just love how u did this pic. also how the light comes from the top. u could see the emotion on their faces, they can't escape from this and they can't do anything about it just motionless, at least that's what i think. it really relates to me a lot & also other people. keep up the fantastic work & 10 THUMBS WAAAAAAY UP!!!!

P.S. don't color this picture, it looks PERFECT, just PERFECT honey!!! ^_*

:-) Emily Coghill replies: "^_^ Thank you very much! Can't get much better than perfect as a score! (I'll just ignore the little voice in my head telling me that nothing's ever quite perfect...) It's good to know that looking at it meant something to you."
