SciFi and Fantasy Art: Saturn

A technology far beyond our own; yet, it seems, that even the gods fall from the sky.

Beagle transmission log: 16/11/2054

Several unidentified objects found within the A ring. Composition unknown, density is higher than surrounding ring particles. Traces of complex hydrocarbons have been found in the vicinity of the unidentified objects. Hypothesising the existence of another space faring species.

The brownish lumps hiding behind some of the rocks are meant to be part of a ruined space station, however I am really bad at drawing spacecraft. The final in my series of pictures based around the solar system and what alien life might exist there. Notice: Don’t bother reading the next section if you’re not, in any way, interested in science. I like to provide some facts about the planets I draw. As is well known Saturn has a superb ring system orbiting the planet. This system is divided into 5 main rings (A-D, F-G) and two main divisions (Cassini and Encke). Jupiter and Uranus also have ring systems, just not very impressive ones. The moon in the for-ground is one of the ‘shepherded’ moons that lie within the rings. They are smaller than other moons.

Cool. What kind of aliens are those? Or bits of aliens that is.
critique16houldn't the contrast on the planet and moon be darker and the ice dirtier?? I don't know much about space though so I may be talking gibberish. ( :

:-) Shelz Keast replies: "I agree, the contrast on the planet should be a little darker, I'm sort of afraid to make somthings too dark at times. As for the aliens they can be what ever you want them to be, the wrecked space station is there to get you ask exactly that."

Just a note that you don't need HTML markup in the description of your pictures.

Cool planet, BTW.

21 Shelz Keast replies: "Oops. Should have paid a little more attention. Thanks for that."

Hey, I like the idea behind this one. Mostly any encounter the human race has with aliens in sci-fi stories are face-to-face... this is different. Perhaps the humans in this story can create a new profession out of their discovery: alien archaeology...

Hmm, never mind my ramblings.

:-) Shelz Keast replies: "Thanks. Though I think alien archeology might be called 'xenoarcheology' (xeno- outside). I'm also sure I've seen it mentioned in one of of the sci-fi stories I've read."

i really like it!!! it is so simple yet it looks so good, and i really like that creamy colour... makes me want to eat it;-) very nice!

:-) Shelz Keast replies: "That creamy colour is based on the colour Saturn appears in true colour photos."
