SciFi and Fantasy Art: Young Tiger Songgryphons Playing With Grapes

December 2003 - Oil paint - 37cm x 43cm

Heh, after the birthday gift picture for my mother everyone seems to love my little songgryphons even more. So I began kind of a songgryphon still life - series. This is the second picture and the next two are already planned. I hope I manage to finish them before christmas.
The sketch I did for one of the songgryphons is also in here. Because I liked it so much and quickly coloured it with coloured pencils.

This motive is available at Ellen Million Graphics.

Wow, these guys are too cool! I'm glad that Elfwood's hourly pic generator pulled these guys up, otherwise I might never have seen them. I particularly dig the combination of still life material (alone, this makes me yawn) with two very intriguing, restlessly active little guys. This is so neat, I've got quite the grin on my face now.

1 Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Hehe, it's modelled after my cats. They often play that way with small balls an such things. "

Cute! They look so tiny and fuzzy.

:-) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Thank you very much. This was one of my first songgryphon paintings and I would do many things differently by now. But I still like it. Merry Christmas!"

May I have one?! I promise to feed it every day, and give it all the grapes it will ever want! (jk) They're soooooo cute!

:-) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "*lol* I am afraid, that there's so few of them, I'd rather keep them all for myself. Gotta have my models to draw after all ... ;-)"

3 Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Thank you very much! 2 By the way: These are not meant to be babies of normal-size mighty gryphons. They are still young (and thus still very playful) but have almost reached their adult size: songgryphons are just about the size of songbirds. ;-)"
