SciFi and Fantasy Art: Dimensions

Before 1998 - Oil paint - 40cm x 30cm

This was done at school. I don't remember the task but I remember that I was very strongly influenced by Dali when I did this. And of course - DRAGON!!! ;-)
After all, I found it again recently and I like it more now than at that time.

Update November 2005: This motive is available at Ellen Million Graphics, now!

HUH...?

:-) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Nothing to worry about. Some strange task in art class and: vois la!"

Interesting indeed! The pathway makes me think of a melting road of cheese...

:-) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "*lol* That would be a cool variation of how to get to cockaigne. (Hm. I hope this is the correct word. It's Schlaraffenland in German, the paradise-land for lazy people, surrounded by huge sweet mountains you have to eat yourself though to get in... I would prefer cheese. *g*)"

So that's what dragons stash in their caves. And all this time we thought it was gold and treasure, but nope, just multidimensional cheese. 10 I like the abstractness of the picture, it really adds feeling. Crackers anyone.

1 Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Yay for cheese! Yay for crackers! Must be after that great dragons-go-vegetarian movement in the late middle ages... ;-)"

Ooooh this is so cool!! it's like a cross between Dali and something in the movie "they". that movie sucked by the way but some designs in it were very nice and imaginative. anyway that's how i think about it. very good.

1 Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Thank you, Tinus! Hahaha, even though I don't know that movie it sounds like a B-movie to me. "

HeHe(*) i'm being weird again of course but does that demesions part look like chesse? maybe it's just me hehe i love the pick though

12 Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "  Do you mean chess or cheese? ;-) Well, both could be. "The roads were made of cheese in the tunnels of this odd chess-universe ...""

Der Eindruck von Tiefe ... ups, ich sollte Englisch schreiben ...
You acquire a feeling of depth in this picture. It is amazing.

:-) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "I think the depth-work could be better. The perspective of that tunnel-thing is a different one than that of this cheesy labyrinth. But well, it's old and in spite of that I still really like it. That's more than I can say about many schooltime pictures."

This is the greatest thing I've ever seen! It's like a cross between Salvidor Dali, Dr. Seuss, and Tim Burton! (I love all three.)This is very creepy and inspirational! Amazing work.

1 Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "... and it's soooo old! It's one of the very few school works I still like. I'm not sure if I know this Dr. Suess and I didn't know about Tim Burton at that time, but inspiration from Dali played a role in the creation of this for sure. "

This is so cool! It truly looks as if those...things are melting and falling to the ground. And that little dragon up there looks as if he's completely obliviouse to his surroundings, ans he could really care less if he did realize what was going on.
The colors you used are also really good.

:-) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Thank you very much. It's a very old piece. I don't remember what I thought when I painted this. "

Wow, this is very surrealistic2!!! It somehow reminds me a bit of dali2! Very nice2!!!

1 Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Thanks! It was heavily inspired by Dali."
