| 8 Dec 2003 | Anna Olender | o they are Gorgeous!! how did you break the cd into such geometric pieces? did the scanner pick up those color flashes or is it a photo? i really just looked at this and went wow how come no one has ever done this yet?! excelent work! Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: " Thanks Anne! I didn't break the CDs at all. That was my first idea, and it would be a quick and easy way - if it worked. But CDs don't break in a clean way. So I had to cut them. And yes, the colour flashes are picked up by the scanner. Hmmm.... *Gets an idea* Maybe I could get the scanner to produce the whole spectrum those CDs shine in if moved in the light, and then I could put those pictures together into an animated gif - to give a more realistic impression about how these shiny tangrams look... *wonders off thinking excitedly*" | |
| 9 Dec 2003 | Isabelle Apel | That has got to look SO cool in real! Makes one want to try their hand at it (and apparently, some people already want to < XD). Hell, with aaaaaaall of the junk cds we have, I bet I could. It's tempting. So very tempting. If I ever do, I'll let you know. In the meantime, this pic is just absolutely gorgeous! o_o what you can do with pieces of broken technology. XD Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: ""pieces of broken technology". Sound like a cool title for something. Good luck with trying! And don't forget to show me, if you did your own CD-piece! I'm curious! ^.^" | |
| 8 Jan 2004 | Jan 'Irian' Rodewald | That's such a cool idea - and it looks great (even without the colour dynamics ) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Sometimes I like those scans even more than the shiny originals. Thank you, fellow DSA-ler! Btw: You've been the first Elfwood-member other than me, in whose gallery I found DSA-art. " | |

| 12 May 2005 | Ailsa L. MacPherson | Wow...what an...original technique! It's so striking to look at. I love it ^_^ I've tried to cut up CD's before but I could never get it precise even with a stanley knife - what did you use? Great piece of art ^_^ Els x Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Thank you very much! I used scissors but that didn't work very well. It was far too much work fuch such a small picture that way..." | |
| 24 Aug 2005 | Sarah Miller | I believe that this would be absolutely beautiful to see in reality, all shiny like that. Have you thought of doing other kinds of creatures like that? At any rate, this is fantastic and unique, and I feel lucky to have seen it. Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Thank you a lot for your kind comments, Sarah. It might be a good idea to do different animals with that technique as well. Maybe if the ting with the work bench prooves to be as easy as we imagine I'll do a small series of those. Well... when I have more time for art again. " | |

| 22 Apr 2006 | Dying Messenger | I think I like this one the best out of the two "tangram dragons". This one has alot of detail and work put into it. I think I may go out and find a worthless CD in my room or somewhere in the house and make one of my own!! Inspiration!!!! =b Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "I cannot decide which one I like best. Anyway, have fun creating you onw CD-dragon! " | |
