SciFi and Fantasy Art: Dragon Seal (film)

I guess about 1999 - stone sculpture - 6,5cm x 3,5cm x 4,5cm

This is my little alabaster dragon. I made a short film with a digital camera to show this sculpture from all sides. I'm quite proud of this little thing though some details didn't work out with the stone as I whished. For example the horns: they just broke from the head at some point during the carving.

:-) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "It's just some small programs. I used virtualdub to cut out exactly one turn of the figure and to convert it into another video codec. Then I used Jasc Animation Shop 3 to turn it into a gif. "

:-) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "The stone was a gift from my father. He got it somewhere in Italy. I'm so greatful! 2"

He looks like he's chasing his tail. Love it though.^_^

1 Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "*lol* Maybe he is...
I like to give dragons a slight cat-ish touch."

It's a beautiful stone. I'd be greatful, too. Yeah, this is a nice animation! Kudos!

:-) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Thank you! It was a bit tricky to get the animation that smooth and still small enough..."

How on earth do you make things move like that!? I never could figure it out! that's really cool, i like that seal too. Did you carve it?

:-) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Yes I carved it from one piece of stone. That's great fun! I'd like to do more of those. But it takes so much time and busy as I usually am...
Well, about the movement: My father has a digital camara that I borrowed. I put it on a circling plate and filmed it, and then I turned this film on my computer into a moving gif and cut it the way that it forms an endless loop. 2 "

Oh wow! This sculpture is amazing!!!! I don't usually comment that often, but when I saw this, I just had to say how amazing I thought it was!

:-) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Thank you Sharon! It took some time to finish I can tell you. ;-)"

Lol I couldn't keep staring at it. This is so great. Perfect sculpture, and you can look at it on all sides 2 Nice dragon, spinning around ... getting me dizzy...

1 Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Thank you Ally! It was a bit tricky to get this animated gif together. And I'm not content how most browsers handle it. It should look absolutely fluent, with no breaks or slow turn phases... Anyway, it's a better way to show the sculpture than just by photographs, I think. "

I just want to say... It's beautiful. *stares* I like the tail the best. Wowness.

2 Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Oh! Thank you again! This one doesn't get many comments. The thumbnail does not look very appealing, I guess. But I am quite proud of this little piece of stone carving. 2"

WOW!!! It's actually MOVING! WOW! I mean... WOW!!!

:-) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "LOL! I hope you like the little statue, too, not just the fact that the image is moving. ;-)"
