| 26 Sep 2003 | Black Tiger Dragon | WOW! Gotta love your pics. Especially the dragons! How DO you do it!?! *jaw drops to the floor* Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Hahaha, thank you Black Tiger Dragon! (A cool nickname! Hehe, a new very nice dragon-picture pops up in my mind... ;-))" | |
| 26 Sep 2003 | Ny mand | Absolut fantastisch! Und der Himmel sieht wirklich dramatisch bedrohlich aus ... ich denke mal, wie die Szene im Buch sein soll? Wirklich amazing! Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Yes, the picture really is like the scene in the book. The whole atmosphere and all. At least I hope it's the same feeling in the book, cause that's what I wanted to produce. ;-)" | |
| 27 Sep 2003 | Johanna Iso-Järvenpää | Ok, I see what you meant by practising. Wish I had the patience to practise before I do something bigger. But no, everything must success by first strike. lol All the changes of the colour are hard to see, but I can almost see some hints of purple, orange and blue in the clouds. Just like before a really bad weather. In the thumbnail it's even more clear. The climbing boy looks good too, but I have something to say about the composition. At first it seemed, that the Crescent Moon Rock was something above the guy's head, not something far in the horizon. How about making the whole pic wider and putting the Rock a good leap to the right. (In case that you want to paint it once again... for practise.) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Thank you Johanna! In fact your proposal is something I actually tried out while doing the sketches for that piece. I liked it best the way it is now, when I had the pencil sketches bin front of me. But maybe it would have looked better with the Rock more to the right in oils... dunno. Anyways, this one is done and I don't feel like painting it again, not even for prectice! ;-) But I have begun now to do better scetches before I start colouring a large painting. Coloured sketches that is. Maybe this helps to find the best composition right away..." | |
| 27 Sep 2003 | Heather <hawk_feather_1@yah...com | woohoo! Not as many peoples got here before me this time. I like the atmosphere in this pic. the char looks like he must be very silent, like he is infiltrating (a fancy word for sneaking into) an enemy's lair to try and steal something. What part does the rock of the crescent moon play in your story? Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Wonderful! It seems I catched the atmosphere really good in this one. It's almost exactly what he is doing. That Rock is the home of most of the main Characters of my story. There's a huge "city" of caves in there. It's the place where it all begins and ends." | |
| 8 Mar 2004 | Elf Ranger | COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL... Moody clouds, and the lighting! (Drools on a watercolor painting that took me months to complete) I really got the feeling of this one! Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Hehe, thank you! I hope I'll be able to do similar ones again. " | |
| 29 Sep 2004 | Ronja | Liked this! hi hi looks like a mix between Tarzan and Lion King (when Simba sees Timon and Pumbas world) It's good. (if I had money....) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Thank you, Ronja! (I like that name. Are you Swedish?) I did not think about any of those sources while painting it, though. It really comes just from my imagination of that scene in my book. " | |
