| 1 Nov 2003 | Josh | very beautiful picture, but in my opinion, the change from species to species is a little to drastic.. It goes directly from one color to another.. But again, it is beautifull done. ( By the way, I experimented with your "CD-ROM" technique, and HOW do you get the pieces the way you want/need them? ) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "To the songgryphons first: I don't think the species' differences are too drastic. Look at the differences between all the tit species for example, or just take the differences between the appearence of some bird individuals in summer and winter "dress". Colour doesn't mean so much then... As for the CD-ROM technique: I cut the pieces the way I want them. I gave some detailed description how I did it at the page of one of those pics. My method isn't very good though. It takes ages and hurts the hands..." | |

| 9 Dec 2003 | Anita LaVaughn Kendall | Oh, those are adorable! You do such a beautiful job fusing the bird bodies and the tails, it's very natural seeming. Nice colouring, too... Okay, I'm gonna be girly... I WANT ONE, they are CUTE!!! Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "Thank you Anita! ^.^ That's what I wanted to archieve: A natural look, maybe even that far, that you would have to look twice before noticing that these aren't normal songbirds..." | |
| 1 Jan 2004 | Lilleah Adora West | I know you are keeping within the limits of grryphons by being a bird/feline cross, but cats seem too big for these little songgryphons, i like to think of the them as being part mouse and part song bird, mice are much smaller and also as cute as a cat (and have fuzz on thier tails, unlike rats) Esther S. Brendel (Maiden name: Esther S. Wetzel) replies: "It's not because of the usual depiction of a gryphon but because of my intention to draw my soul animals by drawing a mixture of cats and songbirds. I'm still not so sure about the songbird-part, but I could never be a mouse instead of a cat! ;-) Thanks for your comment, Lilleah! And you ARE right, there are some cute little mouse-gryphons around in those woods... ^.^" | |

Wetzel) replies: "Thank you Kent! I was surprised to read that your little Griffling was inspired by my songgryphons. It's a nice thought that my art has been the fruitful inspiration for another artist. Thanks for letting me know! Keep it up, you too!" | |
