one day a friend gave me a link to some medieval online radio station. i've been listening to it a whole lot ever since, since it's just wonderful:)! then one night this one song was playing which was called "der rabe und die taube" (the raven and the pigeon, by "divina comedia" (www.divinacommedia.ch) and i don't quite remember how it actually happened, but i just felt terribly sad about that song! it was a very beautiful song with sad lyrics i think and a sad, quiet melody. the lyrics don't have to do anything with the eventual picture but i think it was something about a loss, and my mindmovies got started and i just needed to put that down then:)!
it ended up being an elf woman who was just killed by some ogre in the woods. she was running inside them to seek a shelter in between the trees and the mist, but the ogre was just faster than her... i realized that i had never drawn something being killed before, i think... *g*. the raven is not symbolizing death here, but maybe more a friend, her friend, flying away, not being able to have helped her at that moment... maybe she is the pigeon then? i don't know, i'd looove to hear that song again some day to see what it feels like with the picture... hm...

Hallo Stephanie, fellow artist I like the soft/mellow colours of this on. The softness is in total contrast to the theme. Great done Mich würde interessieren was für ein Lied das war, das du hörtest! Stephanie S. K. Marbach replies: "hi there thanks for your nice comment! you can find that song at www.divinacommedia.ch, "hören" by clicking on the same name as the picture is titled;-). have fun & many greetings from here!"
