SciFi and Fantasy Art: Kalira by night

this was my first big try to work on a pic with photoshop. i have no real clue about it but i'm learning it:)! (at this point i'd like to thank rosenmagier so much for his big support and help on this pic!!! ). i'm still kind of the type of person that plays around on it and sees what it brings *g* but still i was also somehow able to realize some of the ideas i got.

i took my fresh born character kalira and led her inside some woods i took a picture of back in 2002 after an open air rave. they were all mystical n misty n stuff that i thought it would be the perfect place for her to be in! another character i'm thinking of for my story meets her by night in these woods and she appears to him like on this pic. i must say that this is so far the picture i'm the proudest of...! i'm completely amazed by what one can do with photoshop and even though it's not perfect and my skills still need loads of know-how, i completely fell in love with the result and can't stop being happy about it:)!!!

coloured pencils, photograph and photoshop. (2002/2006)

I love this! I have always found blue pictures very attractive. She is very mystical in appearance.

Wow. Once more congratulation my phreaky bee-princess friend to this really really nice picture. I like the mystical atmosphere and the colour play in blue as well as the play with the shadow. Yours sincerely. Roger

Love the colour blue most, the colour of dream and mystery. well, perhaps everyone has own idea about colours meaning^^ This picture has something magical in it. Love the tree shades at the background and the lonely figure of the fairy. she seem to appear from the thin air unexpectedly...so enchanting12

2 Stephanie S. K. Marbach replies: "yeah, to me blue is also a very mystical colour, and on the pic it's something between night and morning, or a very bright full moon night, and i've always loved such feelings around that time2! i'm glad you like her, thanks so much for your lovely comment2!"

wow, i really like how she has just that little bit of sparkle and how she blends in with her surrondings. Its realistic to me. the only thing i might suggest (should you do something similar later) would be to put some branches or something in the foreground. she’s not very forward in the image, and without any other foreground pieces she seems to be in some sort of empty area with a forest behind her (which is fine, that might have been what you were going for) but it might be interesting to play some more with things in front of the subject. Thanks so much for the comments you left on my work too 11

:-) Stephanie S. K. Marbach replies: "wow, thanks vanessa for taking your time to make such a good comment... indeed, now i see what you mean... i’m not familiar with that kind of playground of foreground, i’ve only tried that once and that piece is not finished yet;-) but i see what you suggest would put a whole new effect on the picture, a very interesting one... i shall try that more and take it into my practice-list2 thanks so much for your comment2! i really appreciate that2!"
