SciFi and Fantasy Art: Land

in the fairy tale book 'the broken godess' ('die beschädigte göttin') from hans bemmann, there is a scene where the main character goes with a ferry man to this island to look for what he's not really aware of. it's getting dark at that point, and he sees the little village at the border of the island, and in the middle of the dark, far forrest to the left he sees this strange tower sticking out of the trees. he asks the ferry man about it, and he only replies 'we won't go there'...

i didn't know much about the magic and the spell of that tower at that point when i painted the picture, as i was still reading the book:) so this is what i once wanted to put down. the scan has an awful quality since the original picture is really dark, but the village gives a cosy feeling to it and is very opposite to the dark tower in the woods. the village has a fire in the middle surrounded by the houses which is lit fot the folk party that's taking place there. too bad it is not showing well at all here:(...

acrylics on cardboard. (2004)

What a nice place to have a "nightly moon walk" (not to be mixed up with Michael Jackson's moon walk), maybe together with a mysterious young and pretty maid... I would love to sit together with her on a rock near of the stormy sea, waiting for the sunrise...

I like the dark but still hopefull atmosphere on this picture.

I've read the book in this year's spring when I was at home and it is one of my favorites now. It is not as epic as "Stone and flute", but at that point it was even more to my liking, as I felt that all the stories he told build up around my own imagination... all the cultural motives were very well drawn and meant much to me.
There's a second part, you say? What is the title?

2 Stephanie S. K. Marbach replies: "it is part of a trilogy. the next one is called "die gärten der löwin" and the third is something with m... battista and badezimmer or such, i can't recall, sorry8 but i'm sure you'll find out the title somewhere on the net. if you read the second one, let me know what it's like2 i still haven't read it yet, i always came upon other stories first...2 do you know "stern der brüder" of him? it is also a very very captive book, i really liked it2!!!"
