SciFi and Fantasy Art: Lyiria's sister

years ago i had one of my fantasy dreams i put as a draft on a piece of paper and kept in my drawer. i knew that one day i wanted to do that in a real painting, but just never started it. on one of my projects of this year (finishing old pictures...) i took it out and started drawing and painting it, using one of elfwoods tutorials (you decide - did it get any better???).

while i was painting her i couldn't think differently as her being lyiria's sister, lyiria being another character and story i dreamt years later. they actually have nothing to do with each other, but i guess that lyiria now has a sister, so...:) i'll have to change my story... she is being pursued by these evil warriors and is climbing up the mountains.

the original picture was too big for my scanner:(, and i couldn't put 2 scans together (if anyone knows how to do that, please help and contact me!!!), so the wall she's climbing on doesn't show:(... i'm quite happy with her. i must say, she's slightly different than the original draft, but i like her! it was hard work for me...:)

coloured pencils and watercolours. (early 2000's/2005)

I think I like this version better. It could be from one of my dreams too (I was a Xena fan when I was 15 so you can guess I have a certain weakness for strong women 12) and I like the softness of her skin shading, the good contrast of fore- and background in composition and the dreamy, intensified colours. She looks fierce yet friendly, like a young girl could imagine her guardian angel to be like...
ah, btw.: *first comment sword-dance*

The contrast of the purple sky and the green grass of the ground is good. I also like the combinations of the other colours in this picture. But she should be careful that the sword doesn't come to close to her hears 12
If your picture is too big for your scanner, you should scan it twice: first the upper than the lower half. You can assemble it then with a computer program. Maybe you must scan the middle part again, if you can still see a parting line, and paste it into the picture, to overlap that line.

2 Stephanie S. K. Marbach replies: "thanks matthias for your nice comment and advice - i really should get started in scanning her again and trying to put her all in here... thanks2!"

Nice colors... So soft and the technique is beatiful.
The bright hair gives a nice contrast.

:-) Stephanie S. K. Marbach replies: "thanks a lot shiri for your nice comment2! i used an elfwood tutorial in fact to do that technique2"
