this was one of my first attempts with that style i was using a few years ago. i wanted to draw poseidon, the great king of the oceans. when i was a child, i often watched 'saint seya'. i was all fascinated by the characters, and mostly, by the episodes with poseidon. so this is a little tribute to him;-).
again, too bad that my scanner does not take the highlighted colours well - the beard is supposed to be bright orange, the lips and eyes bright yellow and the skin around the eyes bright pink. since it didn't turn out well at all, i thought i'd change the colours on the computer into some more marine like ones, so it would fit more to the theme. i don't know why i didn't put it up here before - i really like him actually...:)
highlighters and black markers on office paper. (2003)
THIS SHOULD HAVE MORE COMMENTS! I like this style of yours, the bold shapes compliment your color choices. He seems composed of giant choppy waves -- very suiting! I would almost want to add more blocks of color in the background, but that's really up to you. Very well done! Stephanie S. K. Marbach replies: "ahh *blush* thanks sooo much girl...!!! well yeah this one of the style has definetly less details than the other ones... don't know if i didn't dare to add more to it... hmmm... or maybe i just thought i'd leave it like that because it was a face picture - that means, a close up, therefore with less details...? hmm... but thanks!"
I love the style you used. Stephanie S. K. Marbach replies: "really?! well thanks lina! i haven't done a picture in that style in ages... maybe i should again... "
Well, I am completely taken aback by this picture. It is lovely and incredibly stunning. Your colour choices are superb, the way the nose connects the separate facial features, it's amazing. I'm just going to sit here and gawk at these now. Stephanie S. K. Marbach replies: "oooh... *blush* thanks so much for your lovely comment - i really appreciate it!!! the colours on the actual picture are much brighter than these but yeah, it's a different pic on the computer... thanks so much sara!"
An interesting style and with a limited pallette you have created a nicely bold picture. Now what does it remind me of? Stephanie S. K. Marbach replies: "thanks dave (trying to put your personal smiley on;-) ), that's very kind of you! now, you tell me what it does remind YOU of... hm? i wonder! "
Picasso!! Without the odd out of place eyes of course. Stephanie S. K. Marbach replies: "really? hm... very very interesting...! would be funny to do a version of it with the so called out-of-place-eyes...;-) hehe, would look so queer! *g*"

Such an interesting style, and those colours are beautiful. The face is almost mask-like. Stephanie S. K. Marbach replies: "yeah, it does actually remind me of a mask every now and then, too! and that kind of style is a lot of fun to do, i like it, haven’t done such things in years by now though... thanks norma for your lovely comment!"
