SciFi and Fantasy Art: Companion

on my ireland trip back in 2003, i went to visit the hill of tara north of dublin. that's where loads of legends took place, where the high kings fought their wars and lots of magical creatures lived. every irish kid knows that place from the stories they're told about the past. so, being in that magical place was awesome, imagining what had happened up there, looking at the surrounding nature around there n stuff.

when i walked out of the graveyard nearby, i saw something unbelievable... that tree was just magic!!! he looked so sad though:(... i don't know about you, but if you look at it closely, you might see a sad face (looking towards left). the branches are his hair. see it?) the whole situation there was just too perfect... being in the hill of legends, meeting a magical creature... my companion... can't describe that...:) later on i came home and tried to change the colours of it and give it a bit of a higher magical touch, so it would really look like in a weird dream.

(photograph taken by me. i have my permission to use it. changed colours with some computer program. 2003)

This is exquisite. I love what you've done with the colors to give the picture such a beautiful other-worldly atmosphere. What a gorgeous visual experience!

Last summer I was in Romania, walking up the Dacian ruins of Sarmizegetusa and right in the middle of the antique settlement there was a place of black earth, and the face of an old bearded Dacian looking down at me from the bork of a tree.
But when I returned from the sacred places, trying to photograph him he eluded me.
Good that you convinced your companion to let himself be photographed... They're very special about this... 12

2 Stephanie S. K. Marbach replies: "wow, really?! i had something kind of similar happening to me when i saw an old woman lying on a branch, beautiful... but when i looked at the photograph later on she was gone8... you're right - they really ARE special about these things..."
