SciFi and Fantasy Art: The past

Standing on the remains of a unicorn, this horse senses that it is standing near the dead. It can smell the blood and sweat of a war, and the dying screams of a unicorn, echoing in its equine mind...

A few minutes later it resumes its lunch of grass. Horses are stupid.

Anyway, I would like to say that I don't like the way my scanner thinks. It made it all blurry. and you can barely see the stray hairs of the horsey's mane. I must admit the flower always did look pathetic. So there you go, my opinion of my picture. Also, I don't really think horses are stupid. Our horse can be stupid, but i still love her, so it's okay :)

this is my favourite ,love the idea/pose/composition/background, you certainly have a nice chunck of talent "J",keep up the great work and thanks for dropping by my part of the wood ;0)

:-) J. Thomason replies: "Thanx! It is one of my two favorite, the other one is the one in the water... it would be my favorite except it's so blurry."

Lol. That's true, too! And I have seen some mighty stupid horses in my time.

:-) J. Thomason replies: "I see a mighty stupid horse every day! 1 Her name is Dolly, but I don't blame her for being stupid, I love her still ^-^"

Wonderful. There are cases where horses won't go into a field where there have been foot and mouth corpses buried, but you're right, they go right back to eating grass withing five minutes.

I'm impressed with your shading, the horses coat looks really shiny.

:-) J. Thomason replies: "TY ^-^ ... I really don't know a lot about horses, all I know is that this is what OUR horses would do 10"

Nice drawing!!!!!!!!!! I like the skeleton a lot, I haven't done any yet, and yours look great. Your scanner really mest it up a lot, but I can see the piece of art must be really beautiful in real life12 Great job!!!!!! I don't think horses are stupid21 But I got your point.

:-) J. Thomason replies: "LOL, yeah well...horses aren't really stupid but...sometimes...they...just...don't...get...the...point... Thanks for commenting! 10 I am crazy!"

Ooh, great picture! The bones really do look like unicorn bones would, the shape and all. And it's so true, scanners are EVIL.

:-) J. Thomason replies: ":] yeah... we just got a new scanner. I THINK it does a better job... but... Ok I havent really tried it yet... 10 "

If your scanner has a "lighten/darken" tool, that will really help make pictures clearer. Lighten the highlights, darken the shadows, and darken the midtones. Just play with your scanner-- it will become your (almost) friend!
The "sharpen" tool sometimes works, too, but more rarely than the "lighten/darken", and it makes the picture size (as in bytes) a lot bigger.
The way the horse is carrying himself, it looks like he's about to take off . . . become a unicorn himself. (at least for pretend.)

:-) J. Thomason replies: "Thanks! I'll try to figure that out! thanks fer commenting! 1 glad you like it (i think)..."

Wow horst sceletons are so darn hard (accually that goes for any sceleton) anyways like how the roots of the only flowers in the picture reaches down to the unicorns horn, you did that on purpose, right ? Seems all symbolic in some way...Just don't know how...

:-) J. Thomason replies: "Yeah, I did that on purpose, but I kept going over it again and again and eventually it was so dark that it looked out of place... "

i like this picture, its one of your better ones. i like the detail you’ve done and the proportions are good too! its a shame about your scanner but what can you do....

:-) J. Thomason replies: ":/
...Actually, now that I think about it, I DO have several kitchen knives that might work well in... er... convincing my scanner to work better! *mwahaha!!!*

... never mind. "
