SciFi and Fantasy Art: Bathing beauties

In the hot summer days, fairies like to go bathing, even if they don't swim, their wings being too brittle ; by they like to follow the stream, comfortably sat on floating flowers...

This is the first and the last collage I ever did : I'm not very talented for that, paper always sticks on my fingers and not on the canvas ! And it is the first time I painted something (the fairies, in the occurence) directly in Photoshop instead of using a scan.

The lanscape is inspired by a proximate town, St-Céré (4000 inhabitants).

Collage + acrylic on canvas + Photoshop.

I just have to say how much I love the sunflowers here! This piece is the perfect escapist’s getaway! Such a dreamy impressionist landscape. It’s the softness that makes it so comforting and inviting. Really elegant!

Thumbs up for the background and enviroment here, really! I love the textures your brushstrokes make, and the choice of colours. Again, the digital elements stand out a little. Less so than on the one with the bird and the lake. I’m actually going to suggest you try using harsher brushes in Photoshop, or trying Painter (if you haven’t already done so). To make the digital elements fit in better that is. Either way, you can always use layers and try different methods for the digital parts (which is one of the pros of Digital painting).

:-) Anne Wipf replies: "I agree with you. It was the first time I used Photoshop (or any painting program). And and only add these fairies (badly done, I know) to give a fantasy element for being published in Elfwood. The original picture was only a cityscape picture, his single particularity being that it is mostly done with collages of flowers elements picked in a catalogue. Thank you for stopping in my gallery and for your comments 1"
