SciFi and Fantasy Art: Fireflies – Light holders

On a hot sommer night, in the South of France, perhaps would you see strange little creatures... Inspired from the view I have from my windows every night.

All the flowers are painted and not stuck : it took me about 40 hours to finish this painting. Acrylics on canvas, but the fireflies were added in Photoshop.

The first time I tried to do a landscape with flower, it was for a painting competition with the theme "flowers". Then, I did some picture with the same style, and I uploaded this one, thinking that a castle made with flowers was enough to be considered as a fantasy genre... but it was not. So, I added the fairy-fireflies, quickly, and then it was accepted Thank you for your lovely comment. "

They look very realistic which contrasts with the more simplistic castle and figures in a really interesting way. Anne Wipf replies: "Thank you, Donna. This style of painting is quite old, done when I was inemployed: I don’t have time enough now to do such paintings. "
