SciFi and Fantasy Art: Gnomic Christmas

I've just finished it, late but in time: here is my wishes card for 2008.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year for everybody!

The background is done with watercolours and the gnomes drawn with a black pen, then scanned and coloured on Photoshop. The small size of the city is only suggested by a big big moon...

This is so a lovely cristmas card! Belated congrats on Mods choice, you truly deserved it! I love the way you painted lights, I know it is one of the most difficult things when you work with watercolor. You made a fantastic work! Keep it up!

43 Anne Wipf replies: "Thank you, Janna. NO: the most difficult was this *#!*§@! PERSPECTIVE... I hate perspectives... The result is not really successful... except for the buildings on the left side: I'm quite proud of them."

It's very charming! Congrats on the mod's choice and a merry Christmas to you! If you should lack topics for next year's christmas card (yes, i know I'm out early here), then how about an illustration for Dickens' "A Christmas carol"? It just struck me that I'd like to see what you could make of it 12

2 Anne Wipf replies: "Thank you, Helle. Mmmm... I will think to your challenge, I'll have to read Dickens first, far away my French culture (of course, I know Dickens, his name but not really his writings...). In a few time perhaps?"

Beautiful, what a fun little scene you've created here! The people/gnomes are so cute. A lot of detail here as well, especially with the invidual pieces of stonework and masonry.

43 Anne Wipf replies: "Thank you, Heather. It was a bit boring to do. I began to do the background one month ago, then I let it unfinished for weeks, until I found the courage to finish it..."

What a pretty, luminescent card! If that world existed, I'd want to vacation there. Nice work as usual! ^___^

43 Anne Wipf replies: "You'll perhaps must drink a contracting potion before enter in the city... Thank you for your kind comment."

The added reflections of the shining window light really adds to this piece. This brought a big smile to my face. I’m can almost hear the carols.

:-) Anne Wipf replies: "I’m pleased you like it, thank you. 1"
