SciFi and Fantasy Art: Sea-Lions Merpeople

For my friend Maxine Cox who gave me the challenge of a graphite drawing. I only added a few soft pastels. But the scan is horrible: the subtle transitions of graphite or colours are broken, and a lot of details lost. I hope you'll like it, nevertheless.

hhaahahaha this is verry cool and unique, how long did it take to finesh it?

:-) Anne Wipf replies: "Thank you 1 It was quite quickly done, I don’t remember how much time, but perhaps 3 or 4 hours."

It’s very creative, and it works so wonderfully!
I never liked merpeople much, since the transition is often very sharp between the skin and the scales--it just doesn’t seem realistic.

Of course, since sea-lions are mammals, like humans, it makes way more sense, and it looks awesome too! And you’ve made them seem so natural! It’s very beautiful.

:-) Anne Wipf replies: "Wow: thank you for this lovely comment 1"

Very good as all Your drawings! I like Your "mermaids" very much, especially because they are clearly mammals, and therefore shouldn´t have fishtails. Thank You for Your kind remark on my gallery, and as You saw, my mermaids are mammals too...

:-) Anne Wipf replies: "Yes, I saw. Thank you so much for your lovely comment. 1"

Ha, Sealfolk, Love it! The colouration certainly makes it look foggy, and the brawling in the background looks great too. Well done!

:-) Anne Wipf replies: "Thank you 1 And thank you for the tag: it is greatly appreciated 1"

Cool! This is definetly different, never seen anything like it!!! A scanning tip: when you scan pictures, leave the scanner top open. It sounds weird, I know! But it works!!! Try it! I am going to rescan all of my pictures and replace them. You could do the same for this one and probably get your details back!! Let me know if it works!!!!!!!

:-) Anne Wipf replies: "Thank you, I’ll surely try it 1 But not for this picture: I don’t have it anymore, I gave it to my friend Jade N. Bengco (here in Elfwood: get a look to her beautiful magical gallery 1 ). And I’m affraid that my actual scanner is much more horrible than the previous one 8
Thank you for your lovely comment."
