A horrible raining and windy weather inspired me this picture. I don't remember if , in the real Thumbelina story, it happened something like this (I didn't read it since my childhood). But don't be affraid : she'll be saved and alive at the end of the story... even if, in French, very bad boats are called... nut husks!
Poor Thumbelina! (I think that's the English mane of the Fairy tale) I love the colors: "washed out" blues and contrasting reds/yelows. I like the pose of the character - desperate - and overall nice composition Anne Wipf replies: "Thank you, kind Anya. Yes, I think Thumbelina is her name and I corrected consequently the title of this picture. The correction will be effective when the last pictures I uploaded will be approuved by a Mod. Soon, I hope (another picture is already waiting until I can upload it)."
The water is very good in this! Thumbelina is so pretty, too! Anne Wipf replies: "Thank you. I'm not very satisfied with the water, but I tried to do for the best."
I really feel the driving rain in this pic, and the colors in the leaves looks almost real. Excellent illustration. Anne Wipf replies: "Thank you, Greg. But there is just one leaf on this picture, the other orange-yellow thing is a candy paper floating on the water... but it is perhaps very badly done, everybody sees a leaf."
Hey,Anne! It's nice to see your work again;it never fails to cheer me up. I love Thumbelina's hair and how she's clasping the mast of the nut husk. It's a very unusual pose and it certainly is effective. The rain is amazing, too. Anne Wipf replies: "Thank you, Amrita. Always pleased to get some news from you. I hope you'll upload new pictures soon, I'll be pleased to see your progress."
Sorry but I love "bad weather." Thunderstorms, sleet, rain, hail, snow, ah-- it's so nice, not that 72° F / 22.22° C and sunny isn't nice, but I just happen to like it all. :c)
What I like best about this is all the action in it. The wind, the wind-driven rain, the tossed boat and faery, the roiling water in the background, and the torn sail. Anne Wipf replies: "I love "bad weather" too... except when a constant and cold winter rain is falling days after days and weeks after weeks, as it is often the case here (rainy winters, hot and dry summers)...Thank you for your lovely comment."
This is beautiful! The smallest rain shower could be devastating to such small beings and we hardly ever think about it! Anne Wipf replies: "Yes: you're right! I love your comments, Natalie. They identify the hidden meaning of my drawings precisely. Thank you for visiting, appreciating and commenting."

This must be after the toads kiddnapped her. I love how you turned it into you own. I think you should do on with the prince, to finish the fairy tale ended. Tumblina is not a well known disney princess even if shes my favorite. Anne Wipf replies: "I didn’t know that Thumbelina was illustrated by Disney: Thumbelina is over all a fairytale of H.C. Andersen! I don’t remember (but she probably did) if she get married with a prince, I think I prefer when the frog king tried to marry her: it is much more funny and inspiring "
gosh what a beautiful thumbelina . .
and a very imaginitive setting
hope she gets rescued . . maybe a faerie swan or dove will find her
i only saw her once before sleeping in a match-box bed
the nut boat and leaf , lovely way of scaling
lovely painting Anne Wipf replies: "Thank you so much for your lovely comment, once more. It is a looooong time I didn’t read the story. So, I don’t remember if the storm was in it or not "

Ok, now that is NOT what I wrote! I don’t know how that happened. What does it mean when something shows up "undefined"?
Cute picture. Anne Wipf replies: "Yes, I noticed this : "undefined" is not what I wrote myself, I answered "why not?" But it seems that yesterday something bugged in the Elfwood comments Thank you for your lovely comments "
