SciFi and Fantasy Art: Merely Huge Sword

I colored the whopping big sword pic, but decided to size it down a bit to see the details underneath. I was just trying out a few new things with this pic-nothing much.

I like the pose, lines and colors! Very qualified and powerful pic! Well done!

Ok, where to start? I'm going to rip into this pic, Erin, so be prepared! Hmm. Ok, first thing I noticed - Opposition. If she were in that pose, she would fall over, particularly carrying the weight of that sword. Good rule of thumb, you probably already know this, but if the left foot is forward, put the right arm forward as well, and vice versa. Try doing it right now. Come on, Erin, get up. 1 See, there, how your body balances itself out when your limbs are like that? Second thing - NICE foreshortening on that left foot, there. Very cool, the way you turned her ankle there. What's nice I think is that you show the turn through the shape of the boot - see what I mean? I don't know how to explain it better than that. Put Poser away for one week and draw FROM LIFE. I need to do this too, actually. We'll meet at the end of lunch starting tomorrow (?) and compare what the other has done. There's nothing like drawing the body - the whole body, not just clothing! - for a learning tool. 2 Anyway, enough nitpicking. Have a good night. Nice color job on glyph.jpg, BTW. You did a good job of not introducing too many colors into the pic and creating confusion. 2 Limited palette = good....

(Artist Speaking) Well, my talkitive Sarah Friend Person, first I have to defend myself, even though your points are very good. This is not a picture I spent much time on. Actually, the whole point was for me to try some new stuff on it, and piddle around. Though I do admit I should draw from life more, but the only good times for that is 1st period and Mr.Cronister isn't my favorite drawing model. (thou I do have a sketch of tora based on him!) But I don't understand how you can draw the clothing without drawing the body. Hmm. I'll ask you tomorrow.

NO offense or anything negative intended, but that sword would break the first time you whacked something with it.
