SciFi and Fantasy Art: Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter

Anita Blake, the sarcastic protagonist of Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter series, pictured here with her very favorite Browning 9mm. Anita is a necromancer, human servant to St Louis' Master Vampire Jean-Claude, Nimir-Ra  to a pard of were-leopards, and a few other things that would stop "normal" humans dead in their tracks.

Hey... have you posted this at DA? if so, sorry I missed it, if not... WOW I really like her! I have this long neglected vampire-hunter story that I wish you were the illustrator for. ^_^

Kudos!

:-) Amy Phoenix Clark replies: "Yeup, this has been on DA for a year and a half. I didn't know if Elfwood would even allow it, so it took me a while to hazard posting here. 2"

Might as well post on your other Anita Blake picture. Once again, I love your artwork. I like the black and white contrast that this one has. If I could offer a suggestion or request is that you try out a picture of Jean Claude. I think you'd do a wonderful picture. I've never seen a decent picture of him...

:-) Amy Phoenix Clark replies: "Unfortunately, I've tried drawing Jean-Claude and Richard and I've never gotten them to look quite right yet... But my next project is to re-reread the series, illustrating as I go. Hopefully I'll capture a believable JC 2"

I just wanted to congratulate you on getting the Browning HP right! I've seen dozens of pics of A.B. on the web and NOBODY gets her weapons right! You would think that other artists would want to treat Anita's weapons with the respect the she herself does. Well done!

1 Amy Phoenix Clark replies: "Thank you!! I love the Browning 9mm to pieces and had to draw her with it"

Wow, very beautiful and clean piece of art. I love your style, very comic like. I like the little touch of colour as it descends to the bottom of the picture. She has a gorgeous face, and the little smirk is a very nice touch. I'm afraid I haven't read/seen >_< the story it's based on... But I'm pretty sure whoever created it would love to see this inspired beauty!

:-) Amy Phoenix Clark replies: "Thank you! I definitely recommend this to any vampire/paranoemal-loving reader"

OMG! I love love love Anita Blake. Love your fan art too. Very well done. Nice gun, Love the expression. My only qualm is that Anita's hair is supposed to be hopelessly curly and it looks more wavy the way you draw her. It by no means detracts from the picture tho!

:-) Amy Phoenix Clark replies: "Anitas's hair gives me headaches, hehe. I can never figure out how it was styled early on in the books, although it's supposed to be short."
