SciFi and Fantasy Art: The Risen DemonThis was an idea I tinkered with a while back. I figured if there could be fallen angels, why couldn't there be any risen demons? His name is Eternal. He has devoted his lifetime to God, wanting nothing more than his forgiveness. He believes it will take an eternity to get forgiveness, thus the name Eternal. I did a bad job on the crucifix in the background, and it's hard to tell, but he is holding a sword blade stabbed into the ground. Pencil on paper.

We know so little, really, about the real angels that most credible theologians leave them alone except when they come into a discussion about something else. I think that you could benefit from a human body study, as could I.
-- Well, I am no theologian, nor claim to have any extensive knowledge of religion. It is just a concept I felt like exploring. I do plan to do a bit of body study some time in the future (provided the gods grant me some free time soon). *Adam* --
| 22 Jun 2001 | Stacey j heyman | i really don't see how it's that bad, the theology of it. but i have never been able to accept any of it without question. i don't think anything is impossible and i definitely don't think everything is true. sometime i would really love to see this colored. TELL ME IF YOU DO!!!!!!!! the only thing i can say about the crucifix is to make it a bit... thinner =) i love religious art because it seems so dark and beautiful. i wanna get more into that. hmm.
-- This is about my only religious piece. I normally stay away from it as I myself am not very religious, but I was inspired when I drew this one. I am quite dissapointed with the crucifix, and who knows, maybe I will touch this one up later. However, I don't color. I'm no good at it. But, if you want to give it a shot, go for it and let me know how it turns out ;-) *Adam* --
| 23 Jun 2001 | Victoria Weaver | A risen demon! What a wonderful idea. The Bible does seem to say there is salvation for anyone who seeks it. If demons have free will and emotions, I don't see why they shouldn't ever feel they want to repent. After all, if an angel can sin, and fall because of it, THEY must have free will, so why not demons too? After all, I thought demons were just fallen angels........(no, I'm not a Christian, here I'm only discussing the idea of angels and demons in Fantasy.) As for your picture, it is true you might need a body study, but you've got all the 'basics' already.
-- That is my precise reasoning for the whole idea of 'Eternal!' Good to know there's someone out there who agrees. I've done a little bit of body study since drawing this, but have yet to really improve. *Adam* --
| 10 Aug 2001 | Devon 'Seroci' Radtke | A risen demon, eh? Pretty cool concept. I love the wings, but then, I love wings in general. I agree that the crucifix (sp? Sorry for the errors) needs a little work, but those wings make up for anything that's bad. Ooooh, LOVE THOSE WINGS!!!-- I have to say I am surprised by all the positive words about these wings. Frankly I wasn't very impressed with them myself. But I guess I should give it more credit. I too am a big fan of wings, thier aesthetic qualities are awesome. *Adam* -- | |
| 25 Feb 2002 | Um...ah....six | I think this is a great idea, its good to see people do things differantly than everybody else. you really do have potential, you should definitly study anatomy (as should everyone who wants to draw human or human like figures)I myself have trouble with drawing the human figure in a natural looking pose. oh yeah and your wings rock. youd probably be better of just drawing from pictures in magazines than reading books about anatomy, that way you can draw figures the way you see them. Keep pacticing (thats probably spelled wrong) and you really should redo this one in colour-- Thanks. I am a big fan of finding different angles and ideas not often found in mainstream fantasy, so I'm glad you appreciate it. But as for color, I gotta say I don't really want to even attempt it. I am still trying to get my drawing techniques down, I would ruin it all if I threw color into the mix. *Adam* -- | |
| 29 Oct 2003 | Lauren Rebecca Tindle | Aw wow. You've captured a very dark sense in that and what do I love better than a little darkness? Well, As I said it's very nicely drawn and if you shade the stature behind aI think this will be one hella magnificant drawing (as if it's not already!) Adam C. Raney replies: "Thanks alot Lauren. Maybe I will be able to revisit this one someday soon." | |
