SciFi and Fantasy Art: Acceptance'Glimmer and glint, flashy gold trinkets, pretty colors added to murky, deadly red, and they all smile, dread and fear, and horror, too...I sit and I cry as I try to shield myself from them, from their temptation which is so fascinating, and yet so frightning...' Drew this in my TA class, and then messed with the colors in Photoshop...in case you can't read the sign on the vial, it says 'Acceptance.' It's so tempting, so easy...Her inner self, broken and gaunt, feebly offers this vial as a last chance to take her over completely. A quick, disjointed sketch made at school, then colored in Photoshop... I still don't like looking at it sometimes. Gives me the creeps; I can't believe I drew that. Anyway, tell me what you think.

I might be wrong but the way i interrpret this, its seems as if the girl is trying to avoid submitting herself to peer-pressure. Meh, i dunno, but if it is that then you really captured the feeling for it. Love all your work, keep it up Elizabeth Bartlett replies: "Heh, the jibblies....jibblyjibbly...Sorry!! Haha, yeah, it is a little of peer pressure, too; quite right! Thanks so much for commenting!"
| 9 Sep 2004 | Carl D. Rosa II | We've all been there. (Lousy door-to-door salespeople haha) More importantly is the excellent detail on the demon/devil/salesman Elizabeth Bartlett replies: "Ah, thanks. Yeah, for being done one morning at school, I like it. ^_^" | |
| 30 Aug 2005 | Wolf | Wow... one completely black eye, the other that looks like the opposite of the peace sign, a vial of acceptance, black widow, and a dream catcher on her finger. Seems like even the Indians didn't count on such a nightmare... Wonder what happened to her left horn... Great picture, the young girl looks like I feel when I try to battle my evil self... Excellent. Elizabeth Bartlett replies: "Maybe the left horn got broken off when the girl was strong enough to fight back...Thanks so much for the comment! Most appreciated. Thank you." | |
| 2 Sep 2005 | Erin E. Johnston | Creepy.... Very creepy. Really well done, though! Has lots of depth to it. Elizabeth Bartlett replies: "Thanks! I'm glad it's apreciated. ^_^" | |
| 25 Jun 2006 | Solvei Hinna | this is a really really good picture! I don't know why, but it made me think about madness. Like it illustrates the desperate feeling of fighting within yourself. I think I'm kind of affected by this book I'm reading called I never promised you a rose garden by Hannah Green. This picture fits perfectly! great job on this pic! Elizabeth Bartlett replies: "Thanks very much! Yeah, it is quite a bit about madness; inner struggle can be quite maddening sometimes. Thanks for stopping by! ::wave::" | |
