SciFi and Fantasy Art: 'Carline of Crydee' (Inspired by Raymond E. Feist's 'Magician')

Who could forget the vivacious young princess from the Riftwar series by Raymond E. Feist? She was certainly a force unto herself, displaying a strength and will that would have broken most privledged young women of the nobility during troubled times. And though she had no special magic or anything like that, I believe she helped bolster the spirit of her people and loved ones with her courage (honestly, she reminded me of Laurana from Dragonlance). I hope I captured her spirit in the challenging tilt of her chin, yet softened it with the feminine sensuality of her pose. She is certainly an outstanding female character in the Riftwar series whose likeness I felt needed to be captured. Meaning: I've yet to see another Carline pic around, thought I'd be the first! I drew this with a mechanical pencil on drawing paper. I had to scan it twice and piece it together.

You've done a good job on catching her defiant nature here. I like your use of very simple shading, too. Her the way her body curves and flows is very natural. I haven't read the Riftwar series, but from your picture I can get a good idea of what this character is like.

:-) Andrea T.A. Osakoda replies: "She's quite something. Though she may not have her own book, she adds a lot of dimension to Feist's books. Carline is definitely a feisty character, and I hope that this pic truly did her justice. I highly recommend reading Ray's books, especially if you are a fan of fantasy. Thank you again!"

This is superb. Only pic I've seen of Carline and it's similar to what I imagined her to be like.
Great angle you've produce, as if she was looking down on you....great stuff, more please! (One of Pug and Jimmy the Hand would be fantastic)

You've captured Carline's defiance, and even some of her sex-appeal, but the face seems to have lost something as a result of the angle you've put it at. I imagined it as more... round-ish and sensual. Here, it almost looks manly. =\

Good Job
