SciFi and Fantasy Art: Dragon Waiting: Inspired by Raymond E. Feist

I'm not exactly sure if this is a scene from Feist's Riftwar books, but I did this with the books in mind. When I did this, I thought of Tomas finding Ashen-Shugar's armor, and since they are masters of dragons, I thought to place the dragon in there to guard the armor and the Valheru's treasure. Just seemed fitting. Did this in pencil and charcoal. In the background, there is a door with someone's silhouette... that would be Tomas.

I like your dragon though I think the tail seems to be very fat and then an awful lot thinner when it curves over the column. Love the look on its face, its not happy is it?

:-) Andrea T.A. Osakoda replies: "LOL I was hoping no one would notice that.. I wanted to give that impression of it draping over and curving around, but didn't quite turn out as I'd like. Ah well.. "

Very good!! I like it. Magician is my very favorite book. I'm just wondering... is the dragon angry because he just had to send the goblins and Moredel away? I think if you had wanted to portray the "moment before" then you should've had the dragon looking sad... because he doesn't like violance and his personality struck me as being a calm dragon. Well, keep reading and drawing =)

this a good picture. that particular picture never is actually said in the book with him alone guarding, but in the book, Tomas finds Dolgan with the dragon. hes amazed by this and then it leads to further events i wont ruin.

correction, Dolgan is the one who finds Thomas chatting with the dragon eating a fish.
Anyway I love the drawing. Matches the picture I imagined when reading the book.
Looks Great!
