SciFi and Fantasy Art: Adult Manticore

Dwijesh strode through the forest bravely, moving through patches of moonlight settled on the brown earth. (They stalk the forests at night, my friend, whispered Ranjana.) He had a bow, and his hunting dagger, but he kept his hands far from them, refusing to depend on weapons. (Their teeth are long as a man's hand, their claws razor sharp. They've the wings of a bat, and the tail of a scorpion, from which they can shoot barbed darts) Dwijesh wasn't about to let a girl make him seem a coward, particularly when he'd already made arrangements to marry another. (They'll eat a man whole, my friend. Everything he carries too; clothes, jewelry, weapons. There's no trace, once they've finished) His steps slowed as he approached a clearing. There had been movement on the far side. The leaves had rustled as if something had pushed through them. Carefully he stepped into the ring cleared of trees. He wouldn't be a coward. Not in the forest he knew every inch of.

Pretty cool sketch. The fron legs seem a little bit too small however. Does this one also happen to be a vampire as well? Very cool.

You people b** way too much! "oh...I know what a manticore is EXACTLY supposed to look like; and what a manticore is EXACTLY not supposed to look like." Well heres the bottom line about manticores, all you know-it-alls: Manticores have serveral versions and several looks, due to change in the stories about them throughout the ages. So leave the Artist of this manticore alone. If you want YOUR manticore to be with bird proportions, or whatever, then YOU draw your own damn version. Leave your unintellegent criticism out, GOOD JOB MARIE !!!!! 2

"reputations do grow in the telling - i wish you no harm mortal man" a strange voice spoke up from beyond the foliage. a mewing roaring voice it was, though with a curtesy that hinted of refined upbringing. "please forgive me that your love has choosen another." he continued - immerging slowly from concealing vegitation - in hopes that his appearance and bulk would not frighten such a brave hearted mortal creature. "frankly i'm not sure what she sees in me but none the less insists we be married. she speaks highly of you though. i'm not sure where she's gone at the moment - perhaps back at my humble cave - come along for tea if you'd like. i'd take it kindly if youd be so good as to leave your weapons sheathed though." ... well he does look like such a cool manticore - ... ~12

I think that this is Ok. I mean I am not an artist its just this is certainly not how I would picture a Manticore. I did a project on a Manticore when I was at school andI had to draw one and it looked how I wanted it to look. Sooooo, if this is how you picture your Manticore then good for you! Luv Bess xxx p.s Its teeth look like mine! ; )
