SciFi and Fantasy Art: Teacup Geisha

Part of a Christmas present for my mum (as per her design). I'd been making collage cards out of old National Geographics and one came out similiar to this and she decided that she wanted an art version. So, ta da. The teacup as a more abstracted lineart thing was a last minute decision; a week till Christmas and neither the more 3D version or the photograph looked right, so I ended up with a quick substitution.

11 Jan 2002	Hettar7	Loading... I really like all the detail on the geisha. The shadow at the back of her costume is nice. The design is interesting. The coloring job is good too. I think that her eyes are a little big though, even for big japanese anime like eyes. I just think smaller ones would have worked better here. Very nice overall though.While I don't know that there are any size regulations when it comes to anime/manga eyes, my personal preference is definitely smaller. Which is one of the reasons why the blue geisha is still my favorite. For some reason I was just in a mega-eye phase.
29 Jul 2002	Kea Marie Johnston	Loading... Wonderful picture. The computer colouring on her is extraordinary, and I love the simplicity of the cup behind her (you used a vector based program, didn't you!) Anyway, I just love this. Great work.
4 Sep 2002	Benjamin P. Albrecht	Loading... Very cute and pretty. The other one may be your favorite, but this one is excellent, too. The robe is beautiful, and very believable with those patterns and folds. Marvelous work!
