SciFi and Fantasy Art: Feathered Dragon

A wise old dragon with feathery wings and tail. It's a rather old pic that I found again recently and decided to upload. Done with what seems to be my favorite medium, ballpoint pens.

I'll always admire how people draw straight from ballpoints. I can't live my artistic life without erasers, unfortunately, but I really ought to practice little doodles with pens. So, since you say this is an older pic, I'll say it looks muchly like the Changewinds picture. Just the pose, perhaps, with a few tweaks and such. Still though, the texture of the wings and scales make this one a unique drawing. And of course, this time I think I can see the right hind leg peeking out from behind there. Love the claws on this one, as well as the proportions. You know your anatomical stuff well. 2 A.H., C.W., me: Noticed the similarity of poses did you? You got me. :l It was one of the reasons why I hadn't uploaded it before this, but then I liked the wings. Go fig. 5 Glad you liked it though.

Oooohhh, he's all poofy! Yes, I know that was far from an intelligent comment...

I wouldn't mind seeing a larger version of this, for the details. It's so amazing what you can do with a ballpoint pen. 12 Like the previous commenter, I love my erasers. Kneaded rubber, mars plastic, and that little handy-dandy 'eraser' tool in my favorite paint program. Yay! Anyway. 2 I've liked the idea of feathered wings on reptilian dragons, for a long while. I like the idea of different kinds of dragons, in general. Must do some more of that, myself.

I love dragons, which is one of the reasons I'm so thoroughly enjoying my visit to your gallery. ^_^ This one is absolutely splendid. He has that beautifully classic dragon look, and the detailing you've done is a wonderful enhancement to his noble form. I'll say this, too: Ballpoint pen rocks as an artistic medium. ^_^

Nice. I like the design of the head, and I do so wish I could draw feathered wings that well.

Oi, such beautiful work on the wings, they look very realistic... And brillent work with the ball point pen, it gave him some very nice texture on those scales ^^
