SciFi and Fantasy Art: Lotus Fairy

This little fairy is among my own favorites, I love oriental culture & art and she was made to represent some of that, the obvious icons of the fan, her oriental dress & hairstyle, the lotus and the straw mushrooms are pretty common, but also the color of the piece reminds me greatly of the color palette I've seen in art and even on origami paper. She's done on Bristo 14x17 ink & colored pencils.

1 Sep 2003	Amanda M. Sutherland	Loading... I love the colours and the little fairy. There is one or two problems, though. Lotus grow in the water, like water-lillies. They also look a bit different from this. Have a look at some pictures on the net, or look for original oriental art to get an idea. They are not usually this colour, either, but pale to dark pink, sometimes even red-orange. Amber Lynn Hooper replies: "Well I didn't know that they were like lilies and grew out of the water - but I did get the colors from a photograph that I found on the net."

I think this picture is brilliant, it's so beautiful, n whether the plants are spose to be underwater or not it's still great, i see people drawing dogs with wings n stuff so if u can do that u should be able to draw the plants wherever u want lol, one thing i noticed, her boobs look a bit weird lol, or is it just me?
