SciFi and Fantasy Art: Brownie in our path

Made this for grandfather this Christmas. Our scanner is out of order, and obviously the colours get a bit twistet when photographed. Well, this was the best I could make it. I like it (partly becauce it's hard not liking something you've spent too many hours making). Watercolour.

I disagree. I think the anatomy is fabulous, he's just fuzzy and the only reason the whirl looks weird is because its a tad lighter and the hairs dont flow so it looks like a bald patch around it...a little blending would fix that in a jiffy. Also horses ridden at liberty is very practical, you just don't see it these days because it is rare for people to actually develop trusting relationships with their horses. I ride my at liberty in full control.

fantastic art 2 i love the horse's expression.

I would be wonderful to be able to ride a horse at liberty and to have a truly trusting relationship with it. I wish you and you horse a long and happy time together. Thank you again!"

Cute. I like the little brownie.
Your horse is fairly good, but you do need to work on the anatomy a little more, maybe by looking at photos of horses. Also, the swirl of fur near the haunch needs work. Now for practicality - How come the horse has no saddle or bridle? It'd be difficult to make him go the right way or stop unless the person is a really good rider.

Anyways, enough criticism. This is a very cute picture, and I like your coloring style alot. The sky is great, too.

:-) Amelie Karin Christina Lind replies: "I know, one could always work a bit more on the anatomy. I didn't look at any photos when I made the pic, but I'm not totally unknowing about horse anatomy, since I started horse-riding six years ago and still ride. I agree with you about the swirl, it's probably the part of the pic I like the least. As for the saddle and the bridle, I know it might be hard to controll the horse without a bridle (but honlesty not without a saddle). But he's just sitting there on the horse, who is standing still, and with a kind and calm horse anyone could do that. Anyway, it's not impossible to really ride a horse without both sadle and bridle, either. Thank you for your comment and your compliments!"
