| 19 Apr 2003 | Kim | Wow! I just finished reading "The Return of the King" this week, This scene was possibly one of my faveorites!! you've captured the feeing and the background shows the despair they're all in at that moment. Eowyn's face looks closed and unhappy, but the spirit is exactly as imagined her to feel. I din't imagine her to "Look" exactly like that but again; SPIRIT! and for some (unexplained) reason, it made me think of the line : "Onen i-Estel Edain, U-chebin Estel anim" Well Done! and congrats on the well-earned Mods Choice.Ah, I remember the feeling when I (first) finished reading the Return of the King... I closed the book slowly, went out onto the balcony and just looked straight ahead and suddenly started crying, so silently. Man, that felt good. I absolutely love this scene too. | |
| 2 Jun 2003 | Mira, 13-year-old attempted LotR artist | By Eru, I could't have done half as well! I think you need to paint the saddest scene in the Fellowship of the Ring, Gandalf's "falling into Shadow"(it made me cry), saddest in The Two Towers, Frodo lying (as Sam thought) dead(it made me cry more), and saddest in the Return of the King, when the White Ship sailed from the Grey Havens with Frodo, Bilbo and Gandalf on it(it made me cry a regular torrent; I love Frodo)
Anyways, keep up the good work!Yes, ideed, those are sad... but they are also one hell of a challenge. I might do later, hehe.
| 16 Dec 2003 | Elda (Rosario) | I love this picture, is the best I've seen. | |
| 22 Feb 2004 | Valar | Well done! you got the proportions just right. I think thats really hard to do on people | |
| 26 Feb 2004 | Kyrillion | I really like this - very moody with that gorgeous sky (one thing I'll never be able to do alas).
I always try some constructive crit rather than just letting myself gush, so... I think the pic looks best when quite small. in my own paintings/drawings I always take this to meen I've suceeded on the overall composition and colour, but the detail could use a little work.
But to let myself gush again, the composition and colour here are just amazing! Its so perfectly balanced. You've done the best couple in Middle-Earth proud!
| 27 Feb 2004 | Arwen | Can't you see that Eow's head seems like a watermelon?it's too big... | |
| 16 Jun 2004 | Anonymous | I have always loved this scene.. thanks for drawing it! I really like how you detailed what they're wearing.. that's very good | |
| 4 Dec 2004 | Irish Dancer Girl | Faramir looks a bit like Wormtongue guy... ah well. I can't do anything halfway decent with watercolors - this is still very good. | |
