SciFi and Fantasy Art: King of matches

This is a yellow little fellow with great demande for power and with an extreme authority and wisdom. Kneal if happen to meet him or otherwise you never know what happens. I've placed the guy on a perfectly normal resturant or bar table, which gives good comprehension for the man's actual size. I myself am quite happy with the pic except for the glass at the right side. I was strongly thinking about removing it but I decided to show the original. It's made in watercolors.

Nice! You finally got this pic finished. I think that you made a good choice not to remove the glass. Vi hörs!

I like this pic a lot. The matchking's face is wizened and expressive. I especially like the ashtray behind him and don't mind the rendering of the beer glass as much as you seem to. The part that makes me scratch my head a little is the pattern on the tabletop. Near the match you do a good job of suggesting both reflected light and spacial distance, but towards the lower left, the lighter bands of color you use stand out oddly to me and I lose my sense of what they represent. Are they intended to be the grain of the tabletop? Perhaps they could be less bold or in a different color scheme. Either way, great picture! Thank you for sharing it with us. --- Spook ---

Hmmm, I'm quite aware that the down-left corner isn't a big success, it's a bit to much of a downhill slope. Initially it was intended to be just a normal table, it still is by the way. It's not a perfect table but in my own humble opinion it doesn't disturb the picture.

Amazing colors! I especially like your use of warm hues. I'm also very impressed with your foreshortening in the man's hand. Great idea. I can just amiagine a little man like this.
